Nairobi Floods Leave Car Owners Devastated

Residents of Nairobi are counting heavy losses after intense rainfall triggered floods across several parts of the city, leaving vehicles destroyed and owners devastated.

Among the most visible impacts of the flooding is the destruction of private vehicles. In many areas, cars were either submerged in floodwater, swept off roads, or left severely damaged after being trapped in rising water levels.

Mechanics and auto repair shops in several parts of the city are now reporting an increase in flood-damaged vehicles. However, experts warn that many of these cars may be beyond repair. Floodwater can severely damage engines, electrical systems, and critical components, making repairs extremely costly.

The situation has also highlighted the financial vulnerability of many vehicle owners. While some motorists have comprehensive insurance that may cover flood damage, many rely on third-party insurance, which does not compensate for such losses.
